Napoli - The New City

Naplesbay it´s name comes from the greek Néa Pólis, which means New City, and it is the largest city in southern Italy, capital of the Campania region and the Province of Naples. The metropolitan area of Naples is the second largest in Italy, after Milan, and it is located in between the volcano Vesuvius and the volcanic area known as Campi Flegrei. During the time of Roman domination, the town preserved its Greek language and customs. After the Roman period, the city was dominated by many different groups of people, including the Byzantines, Lombards, Normans, Swabians, Angevins, Aragonese, Spaniards, Bourbons and revolutionary French. This variety of rulers left traces that you can appreciate in the monuments, the culture and the people, becoming a center for culture for the whole region.
