S. Maria delle Grazie (Last Supper)

Cl31447Commissioned by Ludovico di Moro and designed by Guiniforte Solari, this building was intended as a mausoleum for the Sforzesco dynasty.. The adjoining Dominican convent's cloister and sacristy were later renovated by Bramante. The refectory walls are home to Leonardo da Vinci's(1452-1519) Last Supper. The brief provided by the owner included a large public beerhouse on the ground floor, on the façade towards the piazza, with rooms on the mezzanine floor, and a cafe-theatre covered by a large canopy in iron and glass alongside the main building, which is still visible inside the offices of the Banca Popolare di Milano. Piazza Il Duomo

Italy1The HUGE central square in front of Milan cathedral has always been a reference point for Milan's town planners. It was a meeting point for important roads before and during the Roman period. In the 4th century, it also was the religious centre with the construction of the Basilica of Santa Tecla, and the Baptistry of San Giovanni alle Fonti wich unfortunately doesn't exist anymore but you can see their foundations.

Castello Sforzesco

Sforzesco Aside from being a wonderful example of a castle, the Castello Sforzesco has one of the best museums I Known about. It has huge rooms filled with incredible vintage musical instruments. from an ivory oboe, to rooms filled with violas, violins, cellos, etc. And the musical section is just part of the museum I would have spent the whole day just in awe. Along with the Duomo Cathedral, it's a must see in Milan.

These days Milan has became one of the largest cities in Italy, right Duomoafter Rome and of course it's the economic central of the country.

It's the proud city with the highest income per capita. That's no surprise knowing that the manufactures goes from textiles to motor vehicles and even planes!
It also has a large construction industry and it's one of the most important silk markets in all Europe.
